Design patterns and interactive design go beyond style and are more than visual repetition. They are similar and reusable solutions that have a working function often seen in the interface and software design. The side effect of responsive design is that a lot of sites look similar due to the rise of WordPress site.
Patterns
- Hamburger menu, icon is used to save space by having a hidden menu
- Account registration,
- Long scroll, draw in users through storytelling and a simple user experience
- Card Layouts, information in chunks ‘content containers’
- Hero Images, Fastest way to grab user’s attention
- Animation, enhance sites storytelling
- Material Design, create clean design focusing on user experience
- Responsive design, simple and cheap fully operating website
- Flat design, compatible with other trends
Although designs patterns represent an excellent practice it is important not to follow trends because they are the cool thing to do at the moment, theses design patterns represent popular techniques for good reason but make sure they are best for your users.
It is important to pick and use the right design patterns and techniques when creating a site. With the correct style choices the look, feel, navigation and operation of the site will assist in a good users experience designed for them.
